when it was brownish , "I" will stick at my first suggestion : genus --> clavulina. of course easily confused with the genus : ramarias.. BUT nobody is perfect. MAYBE that i'am wrong ! :)

It was a brownish, cream color, densely packed, short branches (maybe 1cm?). Near a big lake, many small streams in the area.

the most ramaria's i have seen, were yellow. now the question to jvm . was it yellow , white , brown , was it wet or dry ?
