Chordeiles minor
While not extremely rare, the nighthawk is difficult to spot in the wild. Nighthawks enjoy sleeping directly on the ground, where they are very well camouflaged. They are usually active only at dawn and dusk, when they hunt flying insects. Their behavior in flight resembles that of bats, and they are sometimes mistaken for them when seen in dim light. This one is recovering from a wing injury at the Hope for Wildlife animal rehabilitation centre.
