Description:

Watched this lady trying to settle for ten minutes around the garden until the runner beans attracted her. Family: Papilioninae Wingspan: 6.4-10.7cm 2.5 to 4.2 inch. Mostly black with increased blue hindwing scaling and marginal yellow spots. Both sexes have red hindwing eyespot with a central black pupil and a yellow spotted abdomen. Hindwing has orange tinted yellow spot bands. Likes Carrot family.

Habitat:

Old fields pasture and woodland margins - gardens and marsh lands.
