Carduelis hornemanni
Hoary Redpoll, distinguished from Common Redpoll by it's frosted scapulars and white rump..
Canada, but sometimes migrates South when food is scarce.
This Hoary showed up at my feeder in central Ohio...It was so uncommon for the area, and had some characteristics of a Common Redpoll, that we had to get David Sibley to positively ID it. :-D
