Ceanothus Silkmoth

Hyalophora euryalus (male & female)

Description:

These photos were taken along the Shuswap in British Columbia. This pair of hyalophora euryalus were in the process of conjugal bliss. If you look closely at the 3rd photo you can see the female has damaged her wings. This happened the evening before as she, attracted by the light, battered against the window. The following day I decided to look around and found her together with the male in this shrub.

Habitat:

The Hyalophora Euryals can be found in the interior of British Columbia all the way down to Baja California.

Thanks ;-) I suppose it's simply a case of wear and tear and for moths bumbling against windows at night adds to the problem. The male doesn't seem to mind at all. Greetz
