Ruby-crowned Kinglet

Regulus calendula

Description:

This very small bird is known for constantly flicking its wings and rarely weighs in at heavier than 3/8 of an ounce. The ruby crown is usually concealed but I was fortunate to capture the colorful crown in this photo. It also has an incomplete white eye-ring.

Habitat:

Forages at mid-level in trees, singly or with other species.

Excellent picture! It's so hard to find one of these sitting still... and with the red spot visible! Nicely done.

Your bird photos are wonderful maybe want to add them to the Bird Mission: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/5033...

I think I am hearing their call in our woods now as the gather to migrate
