Red-shouldered Hawk

Buteo lineatus

Description:

Red, black, brown and white hawk. There are black and white striped on the front of its wings. Video is of the same hawk earlier in the morning on a power pole. It was getting harassed by Hummingbirds. It taps its foot on the pole, not sure why. You can hear Blue Jays and Hummingbirds in the clip.

Habitat:

On a condemned children's fort in the shade of a large Pepper Tree. It later flew to a Red Gum tree next to it.

Notes:

Sorry I don't have much of a zoom :)

After looking a while, I'm thinking a Red-shouldered Hawk based on the stripes in the front of the wings and red chest.

Definitely could be! I recall it was very loud but of course stopped when I started recording. Wish I could recall the exact sound.

It's so little -- maybe it's an American Kestrel?
