red breasted nuthatch

Sitta canadensis

Description:

small bird with grey back, black "badger" striped head and reddish breast(female lighter breasted). They are my favorite of the birds that visit my feeder. Nervous, fast moving and curious. Pictured are a pair that kept darting back and forth

Notes:

It took me almost ten years to attract them to the feeder. Now they are the most common visitors
