Thx, Danielle - it is a native one, growing commonly here. I know it is hard to guess, since it is in a fading state. It'll reamin unknown until next spring, I guess ;)

That seed is very distinctly a Trientalis species. Perhaps a species that has escaped a garden--not native. How about Trientalis europaea? I know it says 20 cm but sometimes size ranges don't cooperate.

It is no Starflower - Starflower is an American species. This one is located in Germany.
All species of Trientalis are just aprox. 1/3 foot tall (trientalis, lat.: one third of a foot).
This one was about 80cm.
