Dendroica fusca
The Blackburnian Warbler is a small New World warbler. They breed in eastern North America, from southern Canada, westwards to the southern Canadian Prairies, the Great Lakes region and New England, to North Carolina. Blackburnian Warblers are migratory, wintering in southern Central America and in South America, and are very rare vagrants to western Europe.
This tiny little guy flew into one of our windows today. I picked him up off the deck & checked him over & other than being very shocked & having a slightly crooked tail, he seemed pretty much alright. He appeared quite relaxed in my open hand & even preened himself while I was holding him. Happily after staying exactly where I put him for about 10 minutes, he eventually flew up into one of our hackberry trees.

So lucky man!!! gr8 :)
Thanks Greg! :)
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush - what a beauty.
Thanks Liam! I'm pretty sure we have seen him again as there has been a very similar little guy hanging around that seems pretty unconcerned at our presence so I'm hopeful he made a full recovery!
Glad he's okay. Cute little guy. Great spotting and story, Karen. :)
Thanks textless! I hope he is. I'm reassured by the fact he managed to fly & the good strong grip he kept on my finger while he was recuperating from his traumatic event.
Wonderful series, and I'm glad the little bird was okay.
