Melospiza melodia
These medium sized sparrows are common throughout most of North America. Identified by the streaking and a brown spot on the chest. The face is gray with a streak through the eye.
Spotted here on a limb at the edge of a wetland. Song sparrow favors brushland and marshes, including salt marshes, across most of Canada and the United States. They also thrive in human dominated areas such as in suburbs, agricultural fields, and along roadsides.
