Goatweed Leafwing Butterfly

Description:

Underside looks like a dead leaf. Upper wing is orange/red. (I keep trying to get a shot of a Goatweed Leafwing with its wings open. Someday it will happen.)

Habitat:

Deciduous woods and scrub, especially along waterways; open fields, roadsides, railroad tracks, and other places. (from BAMONA)

Notes:

Feeding on a fallen persimmon. Adults feed on sap, rotting fruit, dung, bird droppings. (from BAMONA - http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/speci...)
