Fungus emerging out of sandy soil from under a leaf.
This spotting in a large semi-urban yard & garden next to a patch of disturbed remnant forest.
Fourth photo is from two days later. Fifth photo five days later. For a view of growth/change 15 days later, look here http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/768...

clive, had you seen, how it goes further with this spotting. And also have i seen 1-2 similiar one here at projectnoah. the suggestion of a xylariaceae is already out of question. further specimen : ( http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/768... ) ; ( http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/590... ), i have no idea, at the beginn it resembles somewhat a xylaria species but the white tip developed to an cap, really never seen anything like this before.
This was indeed very odd as it was growing out of a pure sand layer (in a raised flower bed)...
When I noticed this slipping by I was certain it must be by Clive.
I'm keen to find out about this one.
I was hoping...but with development of the cap (see http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/768...) I suppose it is not in the coral fungi family...
See this 15 days later on here http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/768...
Yes, I will monitor this, thanks
now the little white top begins to get bigger. the structure of the black/grey let me puzzle. do you think it is growing on the leaf or lays the leaf just above. will you / can you follow this fungi some days? will look by again
New photo added from today.
Thanks for these leads. I'm researching!
i'm not sure, because it is a bit different (maybe just indonesian species from it) but it ressembles the xylaria hypoxylon ( http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/747... ).take a look into the genas: xylaria, clavaria/clavulina or just the fam: clavariaceae. i'm thinking about since some hours. My best guess is fam: xylaria ( http://www.google.com/search?pq=google&a... )
