Potter Wasp

Eumenes crucifera

Description:

Yellow and black wasp with a yellow circle below the eyes and a black "whale tail" on its abdomen. There is one yellow spot on each side of the thorax. The "waist" is very thin and has both yellow and black markings. There is red on all legs in addition to the yellow.

Habitat:

Angel's Trumpet Tree in the backyard. It was walking and hovering around the leaves and stems. It had no interest in the flowers themselves.

Notes:

This spotting only stopped to clean itself then took off. I was unable to get any other shots for other angles.
