Nanday Parakeet

Description:

The Nanday Parakeet is generally green in color. However, it is a wonderfully colorful bird! Its facial mask, beak, and flight feathers on its wings are black. Its tail is edged with blue. Its upper chest is a blue-green. The feathers covering the thigh area are red.

Habitat:

Spotted in suburban coastal FL (tropical south USA). This is an introduced species to the USA. It is native to Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay where it prefers forests and savannahs.

Notes:

The Nanday Parakeet has breeding populations in several FL USA counties.
