Well, now that I see the pic I can see that it's not a coot. Never heard of a Cayuga duck. Just looked it up...a domesticated duck bred from a Black duck. Maybe you have a Black Duck or a dark looking Mallard...there are also natural hybrids between Black & Mallards. If you could see the speculum you might get a more exact ID.The colors may just be tricky lighting. Maybe there are some duck experts out there?

Good photos, Emma!!
Emma I do not have idea about North American birds. You better consult with Ranger Nance and Daniele...!!
@ Ashish ,does Cayuga duck seem right?
Also ,picture number 4 has a female mallard following this duck. That explains for the existence of natural hybrids between the two species?
@ Ceherzog,Cayuga i believe is a cross between Mallard and Black Duck.

neck looks like cormorant, bill looks like duck, feet look large like coot!!
William I feel you also want to say its not Coot right...?
Look like a Duck... Beak is like a Duck than Coot or Moorhen...
...this is a strange looking coot. i think it needs a white/ish bill ~ and a different profile ~
