The Social Flycatcher is passerine bird from the Americas.
Inhabits plantations, pasture with some trees, and open woodland from northwestern Mexico south to northeastern Peru, southern Brazil and northwestern Argentina.
The call is a sharp peeurrr and the dawn song is a chips-k’-cheery. Their nest is often built near a wasp, bee or ant nest, or the nest of another tyrant flycatcher. The nest site is often near or over water.
I mean their home ranges. Maybe one lives in one kind of environment and the other lives in a slightly different but close environment. This could be an example of speciation; maybe one of these species is an offshoot of the other.
Wow, I didn't know they were that "close", they almost look the same! Can you tell me about what's micro-range, Ava?
It is also possibly a close relative of the social flycatcher, the Rusty-margined Flycatcher. I'm not sure how you'd tell them apart; maybe by micro-range?
I thought they were the same species, Liam!
It is definitely a Social flycatcher, but the San Andres vireo is native to the San Andres Island, which is a colombian island, but it is in the Caribbean sea near Nicaragua.
I'm gonna take a look to the other vireos. Thanks a lot!
You should split these two species into two different sightings.
