Banded Argiope

Argiope trifasciata

Description:

During the summer, more than 100 of these type of spiders would grace me with their presence. I looked carefully and only found two today. 2 caterpillars (yellow) said hello. Some yellow sulfurs gave me a nod, but didn't stick around for the photo op. Goodbye spiders and insects for now! See you in the spring. (Abdomen only about 1/2 inch)

Habitat:

Meadow on our property in the Poconos.

Oh...
Its very interesting to study how they survive in snow storms...!!
In Signature spiders (Argiope sp) Webs are very important to observe spider's Silky white marking....!

The spiders aren't making their webs much at all after the early snowstorm on Oct. 30. Just a few strands. I have another - Marbled Orb Weaver (the bright yellow, black and red spider) with the full web in my photos. Thanks! :)
