Dark Eyed Junco

Junco hyemalis

Description:

No longer than 7 inches from beak to end of tail feathers. Dark feathers on head, multiple colored feathers on wings and back (brown, light brown, black).

Habitat:

Urban/ Rural neighborhood

Notes:

Found this little bird in my backyard. It had hit one of the windows of our house, fortunately on the screened side. I watched it for a bit and when I was pretty sure that it wasn't terribly hurt, I picked it up to put it up on the fence. It wouldn't leave my thumb, so I spoke quietly to it and slowly walked around the yard. Eventually it flew up into a tree.

I've experienced it, when I got a chance to rescue a baby squirrel. It was totally delightful to nurture it and watch it grow :)) Thanks for sharing yours :)
