Northern Cardinal

Cardinalis cardinalis

Description:

Bright red, fast moving bird that hopped around a lot. There were many of these cardinals scattered around one small area of the park, but mixed in with several other birds so trying to hear just the call of the cardinal was impossible.

Habitat:

Central Park, NYC. Cold air. Dry ground. Lots of twigs, dead leaves, etc. Ice on the pond nearby.
