The juvenile Common Moorhen does not yet have the symbolic red bill the adult sports. It's feather are a brown or gray color, yellow legs, and a yellow bill with a sharp black pattern.
Many sites describe the juvenile as brown, but the interaction here clearly defines this gray specimen as the young. I also found several pictures online of young Moorhens with this grayer look.
