Thanks for your comments flowntheloop. These are called Garry oak or Oregon White oak which range from Southern part of British Columbia to Northern California and West of the Cascades. In the Dupont, Wa. area there are large stands of these trees where the forest is 90% + oak trees. many reaching 30in. diameters.
