Short-winged Stick Insect

Asceles margaritatus brevipennis

Description:

Female adult Phasmid of the specie Asceles margaritatus. This specie has very tiny wings (Pic #3). Pic #1 shows close-up of the face with tics/mites on her antennae

Habitat:

High altitude tropical rain forest

Notes:

This specie is only known from Mt. Kinabalu, specifically from the higher altitude, around Kinabalu Park, which is ranging from 1,400 - 1600 masl. It is newly described as new species in 2016 by Dr. Francis Seow-Choen.
