I wouldn't recommend it!
I don't have a decent description that defines the difference unfortunately. It does look very red but then so did some of the Cytinus hypocistus I saw in Andalucia.

I think it is Cytinus hypocistis but can also be Cytinus ruber

Love this little parasite! In Spain there are lots of common names like Chupamieles referring to children sucking sweet nectar from them. Do the two Portuguese species have similar names? I tried one in Andalucia & it certainly wasn't delicious!
