Eriophora sp.
Lunch time
Karen, It would be really helpful if you can add the url on the misssion. I have this done before.
So this is a bit of a weak ID. The general colouration, shape and those divets in the dorsal abdomen match fairly well with what I've seen and IDed as E.ravilla in Florida and seen on various picture sites. INBio -- my go-to reference for Costa Rica -- has the species listed but no data. It certainly matches E.ravilla but given the nature of that taxa I wouldn't be comfortable going beyond Eriophora sp. on a picture and wouldn't be particularly surprised if it was, in fact, a different Araneidae.
