My group and I were assigned a area to look for mushrooms and we found a few different groups of mushrooms and they all looked the same. I did some identifying and I found a mushroom called Hypholoma radicosum and its stem is about the same size as ours. The gills are the same and the mushroom shape and color are both the same. We went out in October and there was snow on the ground. These are some characteristics of our mushroom. Color: Tan Location: Massabesic Middle School, one the edge of the woods. Gills: Unattached Cap shape: Circle Cap color: Tan Stem: Curved with no collar Cap: Smooth Spore print: Creamy, gray The mushrooms we found were in the shade. A possible species would be hypholoma radicosum. The mushroom is 2 and 1 half inches.
