A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Sabatia capitata
In Georgia this lovely pink wildflower is legally protected, listed as "Rare", and is only known to be found in 7 counties statewide. It's listed as "Endangered" in Tennessee, where it is known only in 2 counties – Hamilton and Sequatchie. It is listed as "S2" - some level of endangered - in Alabama. And I read somewhere that it's possibly extinct in North Carolina.
Endemic to only 4 US states: AL , GA , NC , TN
Spotted on the roadside in Bartow County, Georgia (GPS does not show actual location of find)
