Spiderlings

?

Description:

An extensive tangled silky spider web with numerous grey little spiderlings. ( about 1mm in size)

Habitat:

Urban garden

Notes:

These spiderlings looked very much like grey/black poppy seeds sprinkled onto a sticky web. There appeared to be a pale yellow/cream coloured ring on each of the spots- folded legs, perhaps?? When the web was touched ever so lightly, some of the spiderlings just dropped to the ground. On occasion, a slight shiver went through the web as some of the spiderlings moved. Pic #4 was taken 24 hours later - the web was completely empty - just a glistening tangle of silk... Don't know what type of spiderlings these were...

I love the way when you touch them they all descend quickly like rappelling then they all go back up after a minute or so.
