Awesome that one is new to me! I've never heard of one on the east coast. The flowers do look a lot like the Albizia (mimosa) trees that are pretty invasive over here.

These seed pods belong to the Pink and white Powder Puff tree.

If it's a locust it's a black locust, Robinia pseudoacacia. Gleditsia is honey locust and this is not it. Or it could be a mimosa, Albizia julibrissin. Similar seedpods but locusts have thorns and rough bark, mimosa trees have smooth bark.
