Description:

Smaller than a mallard, males are colored beautifully: red bill, large white crescent above the eye and reddish face and "whiskers". The breast is purple with two vertical white bars, and the flanks ruddy, with two orange "sails" at the back. females has (similar to female Wood Duck) a white eye-ring and stripe running back from the eye, but is paler below, has a small white flank stripe, and a pale tip to its bill.

Habitat:

fishing or ornamental ponds, rivers Found the three males at an ornamental pond in Vienna, at the Prater. There is a large park, where you can picnic and have some fun. also there were a lot of tics hiding in the grass

Notes:

this is an old pic I took 2 years ago, while having a picnic with a friend. I stumbled upon them some days ago, thought I´d post them
