Description:

Glossy-black males have scarlet-and-yellow shoulder patches they can puff up or hide depending on how confident they feel. Females are a subdued, streaky brown, almost like a large, dark sparrow.

Habitat:

North Amin fresh and saltwater marshes, along watercourses, water hazards on golf courses, and wet roadsides, as well as drier meadows and old fields. In winter, you can find them at crop fields, feedlots, and pastureserica,

Nopay,this one has yellow in it too. So this is a great spotting!! I have not seen one yet!! We have so many beautiful red winged ones here. Lucky you!!
