Green Meadow Katydid

Conocephalus upoluensis

Description:

A "bush cricket" about 10mm plus an ovipositor ( brown spike-like appendage in pic #3) of about another 10mm. Body was bright green. Had short brown wings.

Habitat:

open grasslands

Notes:

This little female Katydid was just bitten by a pholcid spider and dying !. I tried to rescue him but he died anyway. This the first katydid I have seen in our backyard !
