Pearl-streaked Monocle Bream

Description:

Bream have excellent eyesight and are usually found close to the bottom looking for prey with a stop-start movement. Also known as Pearl-streaked Spinecheek, Oblique-barred Monocle Bream, Oblique-barred Spinecheek, Blue-stripe Monocle Bream, Blue-stripe Spinecheek, Olive-spotted Monocle Bream and Olive-spotted Spinecheek. They feed on worms and small creatures. In this photo, it was feeding on a flower urchin's remains. This type of bream grows to a length of about 25cm.

Habitat:

Found singly or in small groups on rubble bottoms of lagoons, seaward and outer reef slopes. Widespread in the Indo-Asia Pacific, at depths of 5 to 50m.
