Lilac Puffball

Calvatia cyathiformis

Description:

bell shaped, light in weight, probably past its prime, a bit smaller than a tennis ball, maybe some sort of puffball fungus? never seen anything like it

Habitat:

temperate forest among leaf litter

Notes:

I spotted this in Foping Reserve. It was not easy to spot and the only one like this I have ever seen. My guide had seen it before duing summer but did not know what it was.
