Calvatia cyathiformis
bell shaped, light in weight, probably past its prime, a bit smaller than a tennis ball, maybe some sort of puffball fungus? never seen anything like it
temperate forest among leaf litter
I spotted this in Foping Reserve. It was not easy to spot and the only one like this I have ever seen. My guide had seen it before duing summer but did not know what it was.

Interesting,
Thanks Clive and Avinash. I didn't know it was upside down, that is just the way I found it but glad to see it get an ID.
Ah, You are good Clive. I just found one exact matching image to add to your ID :)
