A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Nerodia sipedon
This snake was at least 3 feet long. Its dorsum was strongly keeled and was a dark grayish color. It had a pattern of reddish brown bands on its venter.
It was resting on a dam on the edge of a pond where a bunch of sticks and debris had collected.
This snake is currently secure in Connecticut, but many are killed each year as they are mistaken for venomous snakes.
