Spotting

Description:

Bracket very leathery 3 distinct ridges burgundy / brown / orangish on the capoff white underbelly top ridge, 14 cm acrossmiddle ridge, 11 cm across bottom ridge, 5 cmcyllindrical spore hole, .7 cm deep

Habitat:

Base of tree. After I collected the sample I realized I should have paid attention to the type of tree it was, because that can be very important in identifying fungi

Notes:

options I've found: Ling Chih Mustard-yellow Polypore (Phellinus gilvus) Conifer-base Polypore (Heterobasidion annosum) of the options, the conifer-base Polypore seems to be the most likely. I'm having trouble being certain though. I'm not positive. http://procezzed.blogspot.com/2012/02/mu...
