they appear to be the offspring of your lovely mrs garden spider, they have the same markings on their underside.
Yes it was so it could well be a juvenile, but I know virtually nothing about spiders. There were lots of them in my daughters' garden when we visited in October (note spotting date) but not in good positions for photography.
was this spider in close proximity to your garden spider that you spotted this evening, as it has the features of a juvanile!
