I believe this is the light morph of the Ferruginous Hawk, they are rusty brown on the upper parts and pale on the head, neck, and underparts with rust on the legs and some rust marking on the underwing. The upper wings are grey. The "Ferruginous" name refers to the rusty color of the light-morph birds.

Hey Christy! Very good point, I bet you're right! His left eye appears to be foggy. I was sure there was gonna be a fight but the ferrug flew off and the red tail stayed and fed. huh...
Might be why he's not fending off the red-tail...if he's not feeling well. Hey Emily!

It looks like his left eye might be injured. I thought that it was just my photos, but yours show them too!
Thanks Christy. It was a pretty awesome spotting. The Magpie had no problem jumping in there to snag some food too.
