Callicarpa americana
Darker purple berries grouped off of smaller stems on a large plant base. The plant's leaves come out of the stem around the berries. These berries were eye-level, but there were berry bunches from a foot or so above the ground to maybe 6 feet above the ground.
The habitat for these berries was under tall pine trees, and around other plants in a lightly wooded area. There is some direct sunlight throughout the day.
There were small holes in the leaves, as if to indicate that insects like this plant.
