Ruby-crowned kinglet

Regulus calendula

Description:

These small birds scarcely sit still; they are constantly in motion seeking out insects on tree branches and twigs. They will also come to suet feeders, however, and I've had one or two spend winters in my yard for about 6 years now. (They breed far north and come to our region for the winter.) One of my favorite winter migrants!

Habitat:

A county nature reserve
