Badhamia utricularis
A cluster of fine filamentous structures about 10mm long hanging from the underside of a fallen rotting log. At the ends of these filaments were clusters of rounded dark purplish clusters. The clusters were covered with a whitish substance that had a slimy look. Beside this cluster was a dense growth of stiff thread-like hairs. Pic # 3 shows the actual size
tall eucalyptus forest
I thank Alex Konig for suggestions with the ID. I noticed some spores coming out when I touch the purplish spore sacs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myxogastria...

WOW!!! *looks at Christine's comment below* Looks like we had the same reaction! Haha!
WOW!
Lorenzo, these are very difficult to find. They were so small and in a dark spot - I was really lucky and also glad that I decided to take photos of them. I was amazed at the detail when I looked at the photos later.
Never seen something like this before, cool stuff!
Wonderful!
AMAZING! 😲
Thanks Karen. Might never get to see this one again so, will always treasure it.
Really cool capture Leuba!

Great spotting!!!
Very nice find!
Thank you J. I was very lucky with this spotting - it was in a difficult spot so, quite hard to photograph.
Awesome spotting!
Wow!!
great capture!
Thanks Alex - glad this made your day ! Not knowing anything about slime molds, i was very excited about this spotting and hoped that Clive might help - that's a mystery !
Nopayahnah - thanks
Very cool - kind of looks like a natural windchime
he is really gone- (ok, not that surprising {!!!!!}, but i didnt thought i would be happen today, surely not since i saw him this morning still activ ) What's happend- again a big discussion (where i always had to agree with clive !! ) ????????? :(:(:(:(:(:(:( !!!
thats not only fantastic, but also funny: look like the badhamia species (very strong possibility, to your suggestions {but fungi and slime molds very variable- therefore must a definitly identification, be done under the microscope}!!, but you guessed very well), seems to run away from the mold {cliffhanger}. thx that's made my day a little bit nicer. :)
thanks everyone - aren't these things interesting? they were so small -I did not know they had so many parts to them..
Well, I'll just have to hope that Clive changes his mind and re-joins PN !. Thanks anyway, Lars.
I can't tell about the ID, Leuba, sorry. Slime molds still confuse me to the max...
Impressive!
