Spotting

Description:

from the first photo, this kind of looks like a large, hairy 6" long caterpillar but upon closer inspection, you can see that it is actually is entirely made up of hair and a few bones. from a clue I got from someone, I think this may be from an owl throwing up what it couldn't digest.

I spotted this in Alas Purwo national park. It's not everyday you see something like this.

Thanks Ashley and doreen, I've updated my notes. I don't have much experience with owl scat or regurgitation, so I learned a lot here.

not scat but owl regurgitation

It wouldn't be owl scat, if would be an owl pellet. Owls can't digest fur and bones so they throw them back up. Owl scat is almost completely white and fairly liquidy :)
