Aguila chrysaetos
The whitish patches suggest that this is an immature. It was quite high up but still looked massive, and the feet look absolutely huge. Looked like it had been carrying/eating something like a rabbit or hare and then dropped the remains before heading back to the mountains where they normally live, just a few miles north of here.
Drifted high over our village from the mountains where they live.

Thanks. We do get lots of the smaller Booted and Short-toed Eagles along with Buzzards but its the first time we've seen one of these.

We do get lots of vultures in our yard but never an eagle!
