Carolina Wolf Spider

Hogna carolinensis

Description:

About 3 1/2 inches from tip of foot right side of picture to tip of foot left side. Almost a complete inverted mirror of coloring and pattern between abdomen (light brown with one dark brown vertical stripe) and cephalothorax (dark brown with one light brown vertical stripe)

Habitat:

This one was in a concrete stairwell of a newly constructed (1 year old) building. Large tubular web burrow in upper ceiling corner of said stairwell is where it is nesting.

Notes:

The white spot was the reflection of the camera flash off its eye. Very reflective!

Welcome to Project Noah John! Very nice spotting!
Please can you complete the scientific name box & also provide some info in the description box - it is perfectly permissible to cut & paste info from a source such as wikipedia if you also add the link as a reference. The habitat box should be completed with where you found it - e.g. garden, house.
