I LOVE the lichen huntsman! Gorgeous decoration and coloring. Great shots and info Michele. I wish we had these in Michigan.

I believe I have seen this kind of spider before in a forum elsewhere. Quite a unique specimen! I'll start researching and let you know if I come up with anything tangible.

Yea, that's one of the ones I saw when searching. I didn't see any reference to the genus in South America, but then again, there isn't much of a database for species down there.

That would be awesome Neilien! I hope you get the chance!

This spider has confounded me for the last few days. I can't seem to find a match for it. The closest match I've found is a quite variant genus of "bark spider" found in Africa genus Caerostris.

Do you know/can you remember, if this spider had all eight eyes, or did it possibly have 4? It kind of looks like it might only have four. Besides that, the posturing and cephalothorax shape (short compared to most other orb weavers that I've seen) lead me to believe this might be related to the ones in Africa.

I'm intrigued by these. Any chance you could get a shot of the underside, and maybe up close on the eyes?

I'm not sure about S. African spiders, but this bears resemblance to some from the genus I've suggested and have seen in the US.

I didn't know that. Interesting.

That is a pretty epic tree! What a great site to have so close by!

Looks like there might be a crack in the boulder, perhaps it just grew up through the rock over time?

Wow, that stabilimentum is crazy! Cool shots! Can't ID it from them though.
