The only time I ever see them is when they come out of the trees to breed. This guy is grey, but some of them are a beautiful pale green...

Looks like the one - and it says the range extends to southern Canada. I have only ever seen this one individual around here. I would love to see the caterpillar - weird! Thanks for your help.

They leave a pheremone trail to the best food sources so that their tent-mates are guaranteed a good meal.

Great shot. That's an Eastern tent caterpillar. They leave their tents around that size and look for places to pupate. Amazing animals.

That looks like a crane fly to me. There are a number of different species, all with those great long legs.
