A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Thank you LisaPowers and thank you everyone for your comments!
Thank you doreen.chambers.14, I love owls too, they are really incredible.
Florida is such a crazy place with so many tropical non-native species! Cool spotting and I think it is worth reporting to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. They keep records of new non-native species populations across the state and I'm not sure they have any records of this species loose in the Fort Meyers (Lee County?) area.
Thanks for the tip Malcolm Wilton-Jones, I'll be sure to check my other old spottings to be sure I didn't do this any other times.
Thank you for your comments everyone! JoshuaGSmith, I agree, they are one of my favorites too. Miller Canyon is sort of a classic place to see them, but I've also had pretty good luck seeing them by hiking on the Echo Trail to Echo Park in the Chiricahua National Monument at night. Good luck!
Thank you staccyh and dotun55!
Thank you for the comment Bhagya Herath, I agree, definitely can be a terrifying looking creature! Thanks.
Those eyes really stand out, beautiful job!
