Nice shot Scott - looking at this makes me wish I had paid these guys more attention when I was living in the area.
Thanks bee - I was a little uncertain as it is listed in many places (including your link) as being only a winter visitor to Florida. I guess it is either late with its migration or it has decided not to make the trip north this year!
Haha General/Memorial same difference...oh I see you are a teacher so I guess I should expect to be told off! I also see you used to be a director at Selby Gardens. Some friends of mine got married there. Hopefully see you down the road, though my local walking patch is Lido.
Interesting colours morph - possibly a juvenile thing
Yes very well - I was born at Sarasota General! I was also surprised to hear that coyotes and bobcats are also living on Siesta Key. Its amazing how anything like that survives in such a well-developed area. The closest I have seen box turtles to Sarasota is Myakka.
Definitely a brown snake as NickAsher suggests
Cant believe this guy turned up on Siesta Key - I didnt think there would be any west of i-75!!
Nice find Scott - thats a true 'night tiger' and looks much closer to the Darwin variety of brown tree snakes.
Yep indeed - black spot is his/her ear.
