It was bigger than I expected to see for a sphinx moth. I don't really come across them often and I imagined it would be comparable to a hawk moth, but it was a bit bigger, very striking!

milkweed. not positive what type though. I think just common milkweed.

It looks like the same patterns and size as a Polyphemus moth, but the dark morph of that isnt THAT dark, that I know of. Absolutely beautiful!

Could be a fall webworm moth. Doesn't look quite right to be a giant leopard moth.

thank you so much! I didn't expect such a thorough comment! And this is the bug I most wanted an ID on. I keep seeing them around at night and it was starting to get to me. :)
