A male I believe, Saturniidae, host plants include Ceniza, ash, Mexican jumping bean and ocotillo. Range is the Rio Grande Valley and Big Bend areas of Texas; southern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico south to Veracruz, Mexico; Guatemala.

It looks like the same patterns and size as a Polyphemus moth, but the dark morph of that isnt THAT dark, that I know of. Absolutely beautiful!
